David Hochmayr and his daughter, Katy, were looking for a new project. Having first been introduced to the Island in 1989, they knew they wanted a part of the Mexican-Caribbean setting, and ever since, have loved being accepted into the unique family and cultural ambiance that is Isla Mujeres. Today, after being in the vacation rental business on the island for over 20 years, they are proud and humbled to contribute to the community which has provided them a comfortable and relaxing place to live, vacation, and call home.

 

What began as an empty lot in 2006, the father-daughter duo toured the country for inspiration, often finding it in such remote places that even locals hadn’t heard of. Carefully selecting endemic plant species plodding through Yucatan jungle nurseries and enthusiastically discovering exotic stone quarries from central Mexico, their adventures were near completion in May of 2017. Thus began the second chapter of their project, sharing their envision of design and tasteful luxury - Isla Retreats.
